Scholarships at The Leys are offered at Year 9 (13+) and Sixth Form (16+).
More InformationSixth Form Entrance Assessments
Following submission of an application form, UK-based candidates are invited to attend an Assessment Day at The Leys during the Autumn Term of Year 11, typically in November. This provides an opportunity to experience the School, meet current pupils and staff, and gain a sense of daily life at The Leys.
As part of the admissions process, candidates will:
- Attend an interview with a member of staff.
- Complete an online Quest assessment, covering English, Mathematics, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning.
- Write a short essay.
- Provide a reference from their current school, which we will request directly.
Admissions decisions are based on a range of information, including assessment outcomes, the interview and the school reference, enabling us to build a rounded picture of each applicant’s academic potential, character and likely contribution to the School community.
Offers are normally made in early December.

Quest
The Leys uses the Quest online assessment as part of its admissions process. The assessment is designed to provide an indication of a pupil’s underlying ability and attainment and is adaptive in certain sections, adjusting the level of challenge according to a candidate’s responses.
No specific preparation is required. However, candidates are encouraged to complete the familiarisation exercise available here so they can become comfortable with the format of the assessment. Additional guidance for parents can be found here.
The assessment takes a total of 70 minutes and covers the subjects below.
In addition, pupils will be asked to complete a short essay.
