Will all Sixth Form applicants be required to take entrance assessments?
Yes. From September 2027 entry, all Sixth Form applicants will undertake assessments as part of the admissions process, including candidates applying for scholarships.
What information will be considered when decisions are made?
Decisions will take account of:
- Entrance assessment results
- A written essay
- School references and reports
- Predicted examination results
- Interview performance
What assessments will UK-based applicants take?
UK-based applicants, including international candidates currently at UK schools, will attend an assessment day at The Leys comprising:
- A computer-based QUEST assessment in English, Mathematics, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning
- A written essay
- An interview with a member of staff
When will the assessments take place?
The standard entrance assessment and scholarship assessment dates will be in early November each year.
What is the process for overseas candidates?
Candidates currently overseas will complete:
- A computer-based QUEST assessment in English, Mathematics, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning
- A written essay
- An online interview
Assessments should be taken at a British Council office, at the candidate’s current school or through an educational agent, provided they can be invigilated in person. The Admissions team will be able to advise on the timings and testing location on a case-by-case basis.
What happens after the application deadline?
Following the registration deadline, registered families will be contacted individually with details of their assessment arrangements and next steps.
