A seamless commute is integral to ensuring a positive educational experience. To facilitate this, we offer a variety of transport solutions tailored to the diverse needs of our community. Whether you opt for cycling, public transportation, or our dedicated school bus service, we are committed to ensuring your journey to our campus is convenient and straightforward. Cycling

Cycling is a popular and eco-friendly way to travel to The Leys School. Cambridge is well-known for its extensive network of cycle paths, making it safe and easy for pupils to commute by bike. We provide secure bike storage facilities on campus to ensure bicycles are kept safe during the school day.

Public Buses

Cambridge has an efficient public bus system that connects various parts of the city to The Leys School. Several bus routes stop near the school, offering a convenient option for students who prefer public transport. Buses operate close to The Leys with increased options at the Cambridge Railway Station. For detailed bus schedules and routes, please visit the links below:

  • Universal U travels from Eddington through Brooklands Avenue to Cambridge Biomedical Campus and vice versa.
  • Trumpington Park & Ride travels from Trumpington P&R through Trumpington Road to Downing Street and vice versa.
  • The Busway A route travels from St Ives to Cambridge Railway Station which is a 15 minute walk from The Leys. Depending on location this option may only be viable for returns; as specific stops do not begin to operate until a certain time of day.

Train

For pupils traveling from outside Cambridge, the city’s main train station is just a 15-minute walk from The Leys. From the train station, you can take a bus, cycle, or walk to the school.

Airports

Cambridge is well-connected to several major airports, including London Stansted, London Heathrow, and London Gatwick. Stansted Airport is the closest, approximately 30 miles away, and offers regular flights to various destinations. From the airport, you can take a train or bus to Cambridge.

School Bus Service

From September 2025 we are able to offer a bus service in partnership with St Faith’s.

The service is offered from two locations, terminating at St Faith’s School:

  • Royston
  • Saffron Walden

On arrival, pupils will need to walk the 10-minute journey to The Leys.

The cost of the service depends on location and usage. For more information please click on the link to Kura below.

Please note that you can only subscribe to Kura if your child is a pupil at one of the partner schools.
