Candidates who wish to be considered for entry to The Leys must complete an assessment.
More InformationOnce an application form has been completed, candidates will be invited to complete an online assessment covering English, Mathematics, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning, Puzzles and Comprehension. In addition to the assessment, a report will be requested from the candidate’s current school.
Tests should be invigilated at a British Council office, ideally during early January. However, tests can be undertaken at other times of the year by agreement. Should overseas candidates be unable to take tests at a British Council office, we ask families to contact us to discuss alternative arrangements prior to completing the application form.
Year 8 and Year 10 are not typical entry points to The Leys, however spaces may become available during the course of the year. Please contact [email protected] to discuss possibilities before completing an application form. We do not accept applicants into Year 11 or Year 13. Once an application form has been completed following confirmation of availability, the process will be the same as Year 7 and Year 9 applicants above.
If a candidate is currently taking 8 or more GCSEs/iGCSEs they would not normally be required to take any additional tests. Further information on the entrance requirements for Sixth Form can be found here.
If a candidate is not currently taking GCSEs/iGCSEs we would ask that they complete an online assessment in English, Mathematics, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning, Puzzles and Comprehension. Tests should be invigilated at a British Council office, ideally during early October. However, tests can be undertaken at other times of the year by agreement. Should overseas candidates be unable to take tests at a British Council office, we ask families to contact us to discuss alternative arrangements prior to completing the application form.
The entrance examination is an online assessment delivered by Quest. Candidates are not expected to prepare for the assessment, though we recommend reviewing the familiarisation exercise here. Additional guidance for parents can be found here.
Although our usual entrance assessments are taken via Quest, candidates may wish to have an early indication of their suitability. If this is the case, you may wish to consider a UKiset test. You are welcome to share the results with us if you wish.
