Welcome to our Paul Crosfield choral scholars
The Leys School Music Department is pleased to introduce the first ever Paul Crosfield Choral Scholars, who start their scholarships this academic year. Fiona M, Annabel L, Phoebe S, Oscar S and Rose E will now enjoy free singing lessons, a sheet music allowance and the opportunity to work with the world-renowned Choir of Trinity College Cambridge.
The scholarships have been established in memory of Paul Crosfield, Director of Studies at The Leys from 2010 to 2019, who passed away in April 2020. The scholarships are a fitting tribute to Paul and reflect his interest and passion in choral music; their purpose being to encourage talented young singers to develop their own passion for singing.
Director of Music, Max Kenworthy, commented: “I am thrilled that we have been able to create Choral Scholarships in Paul’s memory. He was such a great supporter of and contributor to the choir at The Leys and I’m sure he would wholeheartedly approve of this initiative.
“Choral music has always been an integral and important part of my life, so I am pleased to be in a position to be able pass on my love of choral music to the next generation of singers.
“These scholarships, coupled with the newly-formed choral partnership with the Choir of Trinity College, Cambridge, offer a unique opportunity for singers to join the strong choral tradition already established at The Leys and be part of the next stage of choral growth and development.”
