Vita Selected for England Rugby U18 Player Development Group
We are delighted to announce that Vita R has been selected for the England Rugby U18 Player Development Group (PDG), a remarkable achievement in what has been an extraordinary introduction to the sport.
Vita first took up rugby sevens through The Leys’ Lent Term activity programme and had only been playing for a matter of weeks before representing the School at the prestigious Rosslyn Park National Schools Sevens in March. Despite her limited experience, her natural athleticism and instinctive understanding of the game quickly caught the attention of England PDG selectors.
Following a series of outstanding performances, Vita was invited to attend the England PDG trials at Brunel University, where she continued to impress and ultimately secured her place in the U18 Player Development Group.
What makes this achievement particularly impressive is that Vita remains at the very beginning of her rugby journey. With much still to learn about the game, her selection is a testament not only to her exceptional athletic ability, but also to her enormous potential for future development.
James Clark, Head of Rugby, said: “I am so proud of Vita. She fully deserves this selection. Her electric pace and ability to identify space quicker than many others has meant she has already reached this high level despite playing rugby for such a short period of time. The most exciting thing is that Vita is still learning the game. Her attitude, coachability and natural ability give her an incredibly bright future, and we are all looking forward to seeing what she can achieve next.”
Congratulations to Vita on this outstanding achievement. We look forward to following her progress as she continues her rugby journey with the England pathway.
