John A. Cawley
East, 1954-59
John was in hospital for observations when he suffered a heart attack on 21 November in Glasgow. Penny and John had recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They were the proud parents of four sons – David, Joseph, Ben and Andrew – and proud grandparents of seven grandchildren.
John was the first person I met after going through the gates at The Leys. Although I have lived in the States for 20 years John and I have kept in touch regularly for 68 years via phone, email or Zoom. It is a friendship that we both treasured and I shall miss my great friend.
