New Community Fund Awards made
We were delighted to create the Community Fund at The Leys in early 2021, providing grants to support local charities making Cambridge a brighter place to live for all its residents. After a pilot period, the Fund has launched this academic year and made over £30,000 of grants since September 2021. The Fund is broad in its scope, with its principle aims supporting vulnerable individuals and families, overcoming barriers to learning, and encouraging sports, arts and volunteering activities.
Here’s a snapshot of some of the projects funded so far:
- Romsey Mill have trained 15 staff to assist young people in a mental health crisis
- Turtle Dove Cambridge have supplied new uniforms for their team
- Three young people have received intensive skills mentoring from SoapBox
- Rowan Cambridge will be holding a ‘Great Outdoors’ art exhibition in March
