Darcy Fenton-Stone

I think it is important for the Leysian community to open its gates to all those looking to gain so much more than just an academic education, and the Gift of Education campaign does exactly that. My time at The Leys was not just shaped by my classroom education but by the wealth and breadth of extra-curricular experiences I was privileged to have had.

The constant support and encouragement to stretch beyond my capabilities is something that has given me greater confidence to push myself to jump for all opportunities. Whether that be at university or in terms of my future career, this shows the impact of a Leysian education does not stop when you leave the marquee at Speech Day. This is something that I believe is unique to a boarding experience; being surrounded by not just knowledgeable teachers but, especially in the younger years, having the example of older students to follow creates an environment where you develop and grow without even realising it.

The Gift of Education campaign makes these same opportunities accessible to much wider audiences, allowing the Leysian experience that so many people have benefitted from and continue to hold on to, to be shared and enjoyed by all wanting to make the most of it.
