150 Anniversary

Through the Decades

Following the launch of our sesquicentennial celebrations, a detailed timeline has been unveiled on our website, chronicling The Leys School’s rich history since its founding in 1875. This timeline highlights significant milestones and achievements over the past 150 years, featuring a rich collection of photos, audio, and video content.

In addition to the timeline, a special display of 16 objects is situated in the Trumpington Gallery, with each object representing a decade from the School’s history. Art Scholars have created artwork in response to these objects, which are also on display in the gallery. Pupils, staff, and guests are encouraged to visit the exhibition throughout the year.

All materials have been compiled by the School Archivist, Alison Lainchbury, who comments: “The timeline and gallery display offer a fascinating insight into the school’s evolution, showcasing the rich heritage and achievements of The Leys over the past 150 years. I thoroughly enjoyed putting these materials together and encourage everyone to explore them to appreciate the school’s remarkable journey.”

The timeline and gallery display are part of a broader series of events and projects celebrating the School’s 150 anniversary, reflecting on its storied past while looking forward to a bright future.
