A Vision for the New School
What happens when you bring together pupils from The Leys and St Faith’s to talk about the future?
In a new film, pupils from both schools joined Dr Clare Ives and Dr Crispin Hyde-Dunn for an open conversation about the exciting opportunities created by bringing our communities together as one all-through school.
The discussion explored what pupils value most about their schools today, what they hope will be preserved and the possibilities they see in a future where children can benefit from a continuous educational journey from the earliest years through to Sixth Form.
Rather than focusing on buildings or structures, the conversation centred on people. Pupils spoke thoughtfully about friendship, belonging, new opportunities and the importance of maintaining the distinctive character and values that make both schools such special places to learn.
Throughout the film, their confidence, insight and enthusiasm shine through. They discuss the importance of strong relationships between year groups, the benefits of being part of a larger community and the exciting opportunities that could emerge when pupils of all ages are connected through a single school.
For Dr Clare Ives, the conversation offered a powerful reminder of what lies at the heart of the next stage in the schools’ development: “One of the most exciting aspects of this journey is seeing our pupils engage so positively with the future. Their ideas, questions and aspirations will help shape the school we create together.”
The film also highlights a shared commitment to preserving the strengths, traditions and values that have defined both schools for generations while embracing new opportunities for collaboration, learning and personal growth.
As planning continues, pupil voice will remain an important part of the process, ensuring that the future school reflects the experiences and ambitions of the young people it exists to serve.
