Geoffrey Bean
West 1947-52 and Common Room 1962-67
Geoff was the son of Alan Bean, West 1916-20, a member of the Methodist community in Sunderland and a Governor of The Leys for many years. Geoff was a keen rugby player. He went on to Jesus College, Cambridge to read Geography and, having taught briefly at Rydal, returned to The Leys as Head of Geography in 1962. In 1970 he was appointed as Headmaster of Prince Alfred College in Adelaide, a leading Methodist school in Australia. He had a distinguished career in education both in South Australia and, nationally, as a member of the Standing Committee of the Headmasters Conference of Australia.
