Competition Success for Leysian Photographers

Year 9 pupil Alex R has been judged the overall winner in the intermediate age category in the recent Cambridge Rotary Young Photographer competition. This year’s theme was The Beauty of Architecture and the judges were very impressed with his photo Verre Vestibule. Lower Sixth pupil Hazel C was Commended for her photograph Afloat in the senior age category.

Mr Harmsworth, who runs the photography activity, said: “I was really pleased that the pupils were able to work on producing interesting images of Architecture, either during our trips into Cambridge, or by selecting them from their own previous work taken at home or when on holiday. Initially they approached the task by trying to take an entire image of a building. They soon found this very tricky and decided to focus on interesting features or sections of constructions. The end results speak for themselves.”

Alex will now be entered into the District competition for East Anglia and we look forward to hearing how does in the next stage.
