Telephone Campaign 2023 – Meet our Callers!

This year’s campaign will run between 30 June and 8 July, with our fantastic team of callers picking up the phones to talk with members of the Leysian Community across the world, updating our supporters on School news and our 110% bursary scheme, the Gift of Education.

Our eager team of current pupils and recent leavers welcome the opportunity to talk to you about your own experience of The Leys, sharing stories past and present. Find out a little bit about each of our callers – Charlie, Dominic, Rosie and Ollie – below, as they embark on careers of their own. We hope that you will enjoy talking with them as much as they will enjoy speaking with you.

We would like to thank you in advance for taking the time to talk to one of our team and for your continued support of our School and its fundraising initiatives.

Charlie R K North A, (2019-present)

My name is Charlie, and I am currently studying Geography, Business and Computer Science at A-level. My particular interests are Music and Drama. I can play the guitar, piano and sing. This year I have performed in multiple Unplugged events, A Christmas Carol, and I am currently rehearsing for the School’s cabaret later this month. Performing is a great passion of mine and how I spend most of my free time; it is definitely an area I would like to pursue after my school tenure. I am not sure if I would like to go university yet as I am currently extremely interested in a degree apprenticeship.

Dominic G (Barrett, 2015-18)

My name is Dominic. I was a pupil in Barrett House and have just finished a BA at Newcastle University in Ancient History. I love playing water polo, learning languages and reading about Ancient and Medieval History. Next year I am teaching English in Japan near the city of Kyoto. I have aspirations of one day working in the Diplomatic Service as an ambassador to somewhere in East Asia. As a result I am a member of the think tank Chatham House and follow geopolitical events and international development closely.

Rosie K (Barrett, 2015-20)

My name is Rosie and I was at The Leys from 2015-2020. This July I will graduate from Durham University with a degree in History. At university I have particularly enjoyed continuing my passion for music in the university choral society and playing hockey, captaining my College first team in my final year. Academically, a particular highlight was writing my dissertation on The Leys’s relationship with German napolas in the 1930s, and I am always happy to talk about it to anyone who will listen! After graduation I am travelling round Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand before moving to London in the autumn.

Ollie H (North A, 2016-20)

My name is Ollie, and I am currently studying History and Politics at the University of York. Outside of my studies I am an incredibly passionate debater and love playing racket sports. I am still unsure about my options after university; however, I am considering various possibilities including becoming a lawyer, trying out for the Civil Service Fast Stream or going into teaching.
