Granta House

Housemistress: Carol Howe
Assistant Housemistress: Lucy Corble
Matron: Anne Rayner

With both lovely views of the School Chapel and a sneaky back door leading to the Dining Hall, Granta House is set in the midst of the bustle of The Leys. Established in 1985, Granta houses up to 28 Sixth Form girls (16-18 years), most of whom join The Leys new in the Lower Sixth.

Its small size enhances a light-hearted, close community, reminiscent of an extended family. The "Big Sister" scheme is a great support to all those joining, especially for those previously unused to boarding. There is no such thing as a typical Granta girl and all are actively involved in some aspect of school life. From performing traditional Chinese Dancing, to starring in Unplugged, to debating for the School or excelling academically, all talents are met with enthusiasm and support by the House, girls and staff alike. This sense of House spirit and unity is exercised most overtly in inter-House sports competitions, notably volleyball and athletics victories.
