Musical talents on show
Conductor Ralph Woodward had the difficult task of judging the annual Muriel de Vinny and Elsie Swinton music competitions, which as usual produced fine performances from the entrants.
The Junior Muriel was won by pianist Chi Weng Ma (Y9), who played Rhapsody in G Minor by Brahms. She is pictured receiving her prize from Mr Woodward. The Senior Muriel was won by harpist William Jackson (L6) who played The Minstrel's Adieu by Thomas, and the Elsie Swinton singing competition was won by Julia Makin (U6), who sang Orphelia's Song by Maconchy and Waltz of My Heart by Novello.
Rob Hall, Director of Music for The Leys, said; "The competition was, once again, quite fierce, but with incredible support from the performers and audience alike. The overall standard was probably the best for a number of years and huge credit goes to all the performers for making the evening such a resounding success."
