Cooking tips for students
Sixth-formers learned valuable kitchen survival tips from chef Tim Elks, who visited The Leys with his "Putting the Fun into Food" demonstration.
Tim, from caterers Chartwells, showed them how to manage when time, space and money are tight for students and other school-leavers living in shared accommodation.
Armed with a wok, healthy ingredients and a variety of interesting seasonings, he helped volunteers including Peter Anderson (pictured) to prepare a range of tasty dishes. These included piri-piri chicken wraps and chickpea curry with spinach. His light-hearted commentary included many useful cooking and hygiene tips, and pupils enjoyed sampling the food afterwards.
