Peer's insights into work of Lords

Distinguished educationalist Baroness Perry of Southwark visited The Leys to give an insight into the work the House of Lords.

The Baroness became a life peer in 1991 and currently sits on the House of Lords Science and Technology Committee. She was invited to speak by the Russell Group, the discussion group run by sixth-formers, with whom she is pictured.

Dr Rowland Adamson, director of academic enrichment for The Leys, said Baroness Perry’s interesting talk was well-attended.

Pauline Perry, who became a life peer in 1991, has strong connections with Cambridge: she read Moral Philosophy at Girton and is a past president of Lucy Cavendish College. She has held several important roles in education, including former Chief Inspector of Schools and the first female head of a polytechnic in the UK.
