What's cooking?

Year 9 pupils got the healthy eating message in a special cookery event organised with the help of Compass Catering and the School’s catering manager, Howard Dickinson.

In scenes familiar to viewers of the popular television programme Ready, Steady, Cook, two teams prepared tasty dishes against the clock. Each team was given a variety of ingredients and the chance to impress the audience with their culinary skills.

The Green team led by Ethna Prosser, Housemistress of Bisseker House, made a vegetarian meal while the Red team, led by Geography teacher Gerry Stentiford, made a meat-based meal. Pupils and staff from the audience were given the opportunity to taste both dishes and an even score was the result that time. The Red team won by a slim margin when the whole audience voted.

The light-hearted event was part of the School’s PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education) programme.

Rival cooks Susannah Townsend and Toby Bryce-Smith are pictured.
