Poetry Prize

Robyn Purcell (Y11) has won the Bible Society Cambridge Action Group’s Poetry Competition.

Challenged to produce a work on the theme of “Miracles”, Robyn impressed the judges with her “serious, mature piece of writing, exploring different types of ‘miracle’ down to the briefest flash of illumination.” They added: “The impression is of a poet well practised in versification.”

Robyn made her mark as a winner in the Young Writers’ Future Voices competition last year. Andrew Long, Head of English at The Leys, said: “Robyn deserves terrific praise for doing so well, and is clearly a writer to watch in the future.”
