Volleyball girls dive in
The Leys Girls Volleyball team played in the East Regional round of the National Championships at the impressive new Sports Park at the University of East Anglia in Norwich.
After losing their first match against the Norwich Spikers they beat both Kettering and Yarmouth Volleyball Clubs. Their most exciting match was against the previous national champions, Tendring Technology College. The Leys lost the first set 25-21, but came back to win the nail-biting second set 25-22.
Unfortunately the agreed scoring system meant that, rather than drawing, The Leys lost this match because of a one-point difference. As a result, they came third and just missed out on qualifying for the next stage.
Their coach, Richard, Hill, said: "The girls should be congratulated for showing a huge level of commitment in the matches, literally throwing themselves across the floor at times to make some incredible diving pick-ups."
