Riders win at first attempt
The newly-formed Leys Equestrian team has made an impressive debut in competitive eventing, winning both team and individual events at the first attempt.
The riders won the 90cm team event and the individual event in the Arena Eventer Trial at the Jays Equestrian Centre near Bury St Edmunds. The School has only recently joined the National Schools' Equestrian Association (NSEA) which organised the event.
They did exceptionally well in the 90cm class, the largest jump at the event, taking 1st and 3rd places. The winning team was made up of Katie Monks (Year 10), Molly Morley (Year 11), Amelia Paltridge (Year 9) and Alex Gray (Year 11). The third-placed team was Jack Hayward (Year 9), Emily Cox (Year 11), Ellie Berisford (Year 11) and Grace Allinson (Lower 6th). The Leys also dominated in the 90cm individual event, with Katie Monks winning and Amelia Paltridge taking 3rd place. Alex Gray and Molly Morley were 4th and 6th respectively.
