Making the right moves
Chess players from The Leys showed they had all the right moves when they took on Magdalene College, Cambridge.
The Leys team - Ed Cannon (U6), Josh Lam (U6), Greg Barber (Y11) and Grygoriy Bondarenko (Y10) won their first match in the Cambridge University Chess League 4-1. The Leys is the only secondary school in the League.
"They did really well," said Matthew Taylor, the Mathematics teacher who runs the Chess Club. "We have just joined the League, in Division 3, and we'll have five more games this year. Our club meets every week, and we have seven members at the moment."
