Opera Recital

World-class operatic bass Alastair Miles sang to a packed recital Hall as part of the Lunchtime Live programme.  Alastair said: "This is my debut as a performer at The Leys, though I have attended many events here purely as a spectator."He sang works by Verdi, Brahms, Herbert Howells and Mozart, accompanied by pianist Christopher Foster of the Leys music department.

For his encore, he lightened the mood with Monty Python's comical Galaxy Song.  Alastair said he was pleased to support ther music department. His children, former Leysian Jonathan, son Greg (Year 11) and daughter Felicity (Year 8) are all musicians.
