Dance
Dance is increasingly popular with young people encouraging them to express themselves through physical movement and to exercise their creativity. As a result pupils grow in self confidence as they develop strength, muscle control and coordination.
All dance classes take place in our dance studio, an excellent facility comprising of ballet barres, mirrors and a state of the art sprung floor. Classes are run by experienced tutors from the Outreach section of the Bodywork Dance Company and are available for all age groups at varying levels from the complete beginner to the more advanced student. Pupils also have the opportunity to demonstrate their skills by taking part in musical productions.
Recently, dance classes offered have included Ballet at beginner level, Grades 3 and 5. The syllabus followed is that of the Royal Academy of Dance. Tap classes at beginner and more experienced levels have been undertaken, as have Jazz and Street Dance. The classes that form each term are subject to demand, so it is not always possible to cater for every request though the school is happy to run small classes where there is a genuine commitment to regular attendance from the participants.
The cost of classes is charged to parents’ termly account, on the basis of the number of lessons provided by the tutor during the term. Sometimes taster sessions, which are not charged for, allow the opportunity to try new styles of Dance before individuals sign up to a regular class.
