History
The competition is named in memory of Muriel De Vinny, who worked as The Leys School secretary for 37 years from 1935 to 1972. Clearly more than a secretary to many staff and Leysians, W. H. Balgarnie (inspiration for Mr Chips) described her as the 'fairest of all women', and she also taught piano to a number of Leysians.
The competition is in two parts; the Junior section, open to all students up to and including Year 10, and Senior section, to all students in Year 11 and above.
