History
Admired by Gabriel Fauré, Thomas Beecham, Henry Wood, Hubert Parry and Ethel Smyth, Elsie Swinton was one of the leading singers in London at the turn of the 20th Century, as well as being a popular society hostess. The competition is open to all singers in the school, who are required to provide a performance of two contrasting pieces.
