National Award for Leys teacher

Recently retired teacher of Physics, John Aylmer, has been named as a recipient of a top teaching award from the Institute of Physics (IoP). John had taught at The Leys for 33 years and was still finding innovative approaches to teaching and stimulating his students to the very end.

2009 A-Level results surpass expectations

The A Level results for The Leys are as follows:

A-C pass rate: 93.3%
A-E pass rate: 100%
30% of our candidates gained three or more A grades.

These statistics represent the best A Level results in the School's history, and I would like to pay tribute to the conscientious and committed approach of the pupils and their teachers. Almost all of our Sixth Formers have met their university offers, and leave The Leys with the best possible qualifications to face the future. I am delighted with their efforts and achievements.

Yours sincerely

Mark Slater

2009 GCSE results

I am pleased to report that our Year 11 pupils this summer again achieved some excellent GCSE results:
63.4% A* - A
99.2% A* - C
40% of the cohort collected 9 or more A/A* grades.

This represents a splendid achievement by our pupils and their teachers, which enables these young people to move on to their Sixth Form career with real confidence. I am absolutely delighted for them, and congratulate them on their success.

Yours sincerely

Mark Slater
