Spanish

The Spanish Department is a dynamic unit in which full use is made of our fantastic facilities including interactive whiteboards and language laboratory. We are fortunate to be able to employ the services of a native Foreign Language Assistant each year from our twin school in Acapulco, Mexico. We cover the OCR GCSE syllabus and at AS and A2 levels we cover the Edexcel syllabus. We run a Spanish trip to El Puerto de Santa María each year for Year 10 which is very popular.

Years 7 - 11

In Years 7-11 we concentrate on the four essential skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing, at the same time covering a diverse range of topic areas. Examples of topics studied are: local area, daily routine, holidays and family and friends.

Sixth Form

In the first year, the four essential skills are refined whilst studying new topic areas including law, the Spanish arts, education and business and industry. In year two the programme extends to translation, study of Latin American society and a contemporary novel.
