Economics and Business Studies
The Economics and Business Studies Department is situated in the Kelvin Building. Teaching rooms are fully ICT equipped, with projectors and interactive whiteboards. Both subjects are taught exclusively in the Sixth Form and are extremely popular with set sizes as big as 15 at AS level and up to 12 at A2.
Economics follows the AQA syllabus and covers aspects of the International and National Economies as well as specialising in the European Union. In Business Studies we follow the OCR programme and focus our work on the roles Marketing, Finance, People and Operations have on Businesses.
Young Enterprise is run within the department and trips are organised to supplement the syllabus material. Pupils in the Department participate in both national and locally run business competitions.
