Music School

Music School

The Music School was opened in 2005 by Julian Lloyd Webber. The Recital Hall and other rehearsal venues are available to hire during school holidays.

The Winton Thomas Recital Hall

Our Recital Hall (11.9m x 10.6m), with a Steinway grand piano and a harpsichord, seats up to 100 and regularly hosts music concerts and recitals, as well as being a superb rehearsal space.

External groups can hire the Winton Thomas Recital Hall for events such as recitals, rehearsals, concerts or music examinations.

The Music School also offers a large classroom (10.7m x 4.8m) which can be used as a break-out space when hiring the main Recital Hall, as well as 8 practice rooms. Purpose built, all spaces are acoustically engineered and sound insulated. The practice rooms are a great space to use in advance of a music examination, or for practising prior to a concert. All practice rooms include a piano.

To hire the Music School, please contact the Events Manager or use the Enquiry Form.

Availability & Rates

The Music School is generally only available to external users during our school holiday periods. This ensures that we are able to offer unrestricted and exclusive use of our facilities where required.

Our term dates can be found here.

Hire Requirements

The Music School operates as a ‘dry hire’ venue, so hirers must provide all necessary staff to run the event in a safe and professional manner.

We will set the space as requested in advance of your scheduled arrival.

Before the event, the main organiser will need to complete a health and safety briefing at the venue. The main organiser will be issued with an access card to allow entry to the Music School for the duration of the hire.

The main organiser will be the person who is in charge of the event on the day of the hire. They will be responsible for ensuring adherence to all health, safety and fire policies. It is recommended that a trained first-aider is present at all hires of the Music School. The Leys does not guarantee that a first-aider will be present on site during the hire period. A first aid box can be found in the Music School.

The hirer must ensure that the building is kept in a tidy state throughout the hire period. At the end of the event, the hirer must leave the building as it was found, unless instructed otherwise.

Please note that we do not offer any catering options for events in the Music School, and the venue is not licensed for the supply of alcohol.
