SUB MENU

Here you can find details of the admissions process for each level of entry to The Leys.

Entrance Tests will take place at The Leys on Saturday 7th January 2017.

There are 30 places available in Year 7: 18 day and 12 boarding. There are no Home Boarding places in Year 7 or 8.

Candidates registered for entry to Year 7 will be tested in English, Mathematics and Reasoning (verbal, non-verbal and spatial) in January of the year of entry. The English and Mathematics tests will be broadly in line with the National Curriculum KS2. Early notification is requested if any individual is unable to attend on the specified test date or if the candidate requires special access arrangements.

Please note that no offer can be made, nor can the results of test papers be divulged, until a report has been obtained from the candidate's previous school. No report will be requested without the consent of parents.

Year 10 (14+) is not a normal entry point to The Leys.

Entry at Sixth Form (16+)

An Open Evening for prospective Sixth Formers and their parents takes place each year in September or October. Department teachers will talk about their subjects, and the Director of Studies, Careers staff and the Sixth Form Coordinator will be available to discuss subject combinations and other relevant matters.

Academic Entry Requirements

Pupils will normally be admitted to the Sixth Form if they have achieved at least five passes at GCSE at Grade B or above, and at least Grade C in Maths and English. Grade B pass at GCSE is almost invariably the minimum requirement for starting an A Level subject; Grade A is preferred.

Before an offer can be made, it will be necessary to ask parents' permission to approach the Head Teacher/Principal of the applicant's school for a report and predicted GCSE grades (or the equivalent). The same entry requirements apply to British pupils attending an international school following the UK curriculum.

The first round of offers is made on 1st December of the year before entry.
