Wider CurriculumSUB MENU
The wider curriculum is fully integrated into the school week - with three afternoons, the early evening period on every weekday and significant sections of later evenings and weekends devoted to it.
The performance arts enjoy an excellent reputation. The quality of music and drama productions is complemented by the sheer quantity and range of participation. In the Rugg Centre (Art and Design), pupils of different ages enjoy developing their skills in areas like ceramics, life drawing, design technology and photography. A range of activities foster interests as diverse as Bridge, Street Dance and experimental science.
Everyone takes part in sport, whether as a member of a team in hockey, rugby, swimming or netball, perhaps - or individually, in areas like trampolining, squash or aerobics. Outdoor pursuits such as canoeing, climbing and orienteering are on offer. The Combined Cadet Force and Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme provide worthwhile challenges of a different sort.
Whatever their choices of activity, we believe that the quality and breadth of the wider curriculum provide pupils with a set of interests and life skills that will serve them well in their future.
As part of the Wider Curriculum, pupils in Year 10, 11 and Lower Sixth undertake the Personal Development, Service & Leadership Scheme on Wednesday afternoons. This aims to provide a range of opportunities and activities that develop character, spark wider interests and provide service to the local community over a three year period.
